Injustice causes a great deal of sadness and anger, and comes in two flavors.
The publicized injustice that is said to exist when something happens and you do
not get revenge though the courts and the second more real form where you are or
someone you are very near is at the sharp end and victim of this search for
revenge or where unfounded allegations are made against you by individuals or corrupt
police officers.
The first or minor form of injustice, can be easily overcome by getting out
of the mindset where you search for revenge and instead look positively, and
consider even if it was another persons fault how they might be helped. Supporting
friends should encourage people to let this go, to move on and think in positive
terms. Revenge never makes anyone feel better, and serves no purpose other than
in lining the legal professions pockets. Prisons make bad people worse and
convert those who have made mistakes or are victims of the system often into
criminals.
If you are the other type of victim, the hurt is not only the injustice
that you have suffered but also the loss of trust in the system and
authorities that should have been protecting you but has betrayed your
trust and turned against you. This can be difficult to overcome and a
grudge against society as a whole can develop, if you do not have the support
you need and the opportunity to have contact with a community that you can
trust. It will take time to rebuild trust, and to again be able to
function and within this time many suffer from health problems brought on
by the stress. Once you have lost the trust in the authorities, you may
never again believe that they are capable of acting honestly and justly,
and perhaps we should educate people at an earlier point to accept that
the system under which we live is seriously flawed and unjust.
